Pet of the Week: Gin, the big friendly Newfoundland
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Gin is a big fluffy giant with a big friendly heart looking for a new forever home.
Here’s what Britley Calkins, an animal handler with Fairbanks North Star Borough Animal Shelter, had to say:
“Gin is a six-year-old Newfoundland, and she is looking for her new forever home.
Gin does have a few requirements such as she needs to go to a home without any other dogs and also without children under 12 years old - just because Gin likes to have a little personal space.
Gin has been extremely sweet here at the shelter, has loved all of her animal tenders. Gin is not completely house broken, so that is something that her new owners will need to continue working on with her. She does really well if you keep to a strict schedule with times to go outside.
Gin is looking for a place where she can kind of relax and lay around a lot, but she also still likes to get outside for exercise. We do not know how Gin does with smaller critters such as cats, pocket pets, or livestock. If you do have any of those other animals around just, please be cautious when introducing her.
If you are interested in meeting Gin or any other dogs, cat, rabbits or turtles here at the shelter give us a call!”
