FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Alaska Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC) is now accepting applications for rental assistance.

This covers an individual or family 3 months of rent, and also includes utility assistance.

The rent assistance can extend from late rent payments, to current ones, or for the future.

The CDC has ruled to end the eviction moratorium, making families pay for their past due or current rent or get evicted. Landlords are able to evict their tenants at any time for non-payment of rent.

Landlords decide whether or not to have a grace period for rent when it is due, but cannot discriminate against their tenants under federal law.

AHFC says this rent relief is one of the best programs out there for avoiding late payments and evictions. They also list renter’s rights that can be a reference to renters in the future.
