Lowes truck finally removed from South Cushman and Airport intersection
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) -The Lowes truck that crashed at the intersection of South Cushman and Airport has finally been removed.
The Department of Transportation (DOT) was there to supervise from start to finish and did not leave the site until the truck was fully removed. DOT is figuring out the recovery details including replacement of a signal pole.
The Break Room, which was demolished, is owned by DOT as well and they will be tearing it down to improve the intersection.
Daniel Adamczak, Northern Region Maintenance Engineer said, “Now that we have the truck removed, the next steps for DOT will be to clean up what’s left and board up the building to prevent any safety issues from passersby. We will then plan to replace the pole that was damaged during the accident.”
Now that the truck is removed, DOT has the time to fix the intersection. Signal poles will be replaced and buildings will be removed. This improvement is set to start in the next few weeks.
