Alaska election officials encourage voter registration on National Voter Registration Day
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Tuesday is National Voter Registration Day. The Alaska Division of Elections is encouraging everyone to get registered. They said it is too late to register to vote in the October fifth elections, but that anyone who isn’t registered already should still do so.
Jeremy Johnson is the division of elections regional supervisor in Fairbanks and says that every vote matters. He said multiple state elections have been decided by a few votes or even been a tie.
Johnson also encouraged those who are already registered to use this as a reminder to make any changes necessary to their voter information.
“This is a good time to check your status is current, that the information we have on file for you is accurate. If you have moved across town, into town, or have had any changes to your registration, we won’t know unless you tell us. So taking the time today to check your status will get you ready and prepped for any future elections,” Johnson said.
Johnson said that anyone can go onto the Alaska State Division of Elections website to register. They can also visit the Fairbanks office to fill out a voter registration form.
