Fairbanks Tanana Valley State Fair seeks volunteers for Fall Festival
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - With the Fall Festival just around the corner, the Tanana Valley State Fair (TVSF) is seeking volunteers to help out.
According to Karen Lane, Operations Manager for the Tanana Valley State Fair, there are a few specific positions that could use some more staff.
We could still use a few more volunteers for the event,” Lane explained, “So if you can volunteer, we’d ask that you come on Saturday at 11:15. We need help with tallying at the gates and then also roaming... people roaming and answering questions, and just general walking around making sure everything is going well.”
The Fall Festival takes place on October 2nd from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Tanana Valley State Fairgrounds with fun events for the whole family according to Lane.
“This is our sixth Fall Festival, and it’s a family activity event,” Lane elaborated. “We encourage families to come, we have lots of free activities. There is an admission fee, and then after that there will be 17 booths with free activities, food to purchase, there’s a pumpkin patch, hay rides, lots of activities.”
With COVID-19 being a concern, Lane explained TVSF will have some precautions in place. “We strongly recommend that people wear masks, and although it’s an outdoor event, we still would like people to wear a mask. The only indoor part of it is the pumpkin patch, and we’ll be limiting the number of people that can go in at a time at the pumpkin patch,” she said.
Money raised at the festival will be used to improve fairgrounds facility. “The money is actually used for improving the barns,” Lane said, “And a lot of the non-profit groups are 4H groups and groups that use the barns. So just to help with the barns, [and] make improvements every year.”
