FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Fairbanks Arts Association is hosting its annual 64th Parallel Juried Exhibition at the Bear Gallery in Alaska Centennial Center for the Arts during the month of October.

This is the event’s 35th year.

The artwork was handpicked by this year’s juror Jenny Day, an artist from New Mexico who is well versed in the world of art.

Artists from interior Alaska were invited to submit art for the event at the beginning of September for this year’s display; however, anyone could enter their work for the gallery.

Artists ranged in experience, some more experienced, and others new to the practice.

The art on display is available for purchase. Artists receive most of the proceeds, with some going to the Fairbanks Arts Association to fund additional programming and opportunities.

Megan Olsen-Saville, Interim Director for Fairbanks Arts Association said, ”Getting involved is as easy as going to our website and signing up for our newsletter. We provide monthly opportunities there. We are always looking for volunteers to help us install the exhibits, to be our gallery docents, and really for all of our programing - for literary, for gallery-visual, for education, [and] we have performing arts. We are always looking for volunteers.”
