FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Nuvision Federal Credit Union of Alaska has extended their Hunger Action Month in September through the whole month of October to help provide food for the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) Food Pantry.

During the extra month, Nuvision will be accepting food donations to give to the UAF Food Pantry for students and faculty.

Sinead Morris-McHugh, the assistant manager of the office of sustainability who also runs the Food panty says they are in need of more food and they have more demand over supply.

Morris-McHugh said, “The food pantry has been around for 3 years, and in that time we’ve filled over a thousand requests for assistance. So it was definitely something that our campus community really needed, and since COVID we’ve seen over a 50% increase of people needing our resources. It’s something that our campus really needs.”

The UAF Food Pantry relies on donations and food drives for most of their food bags.

Those that qualify are welcome to come by during open hours to pick up some food or call in and have a bag set aside. The Pantry will follow allergy restrictions if requested.
