FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The Carlson Center held the grand opening for its new children’s play zone on Saturday, November 6th.

The event featured balloon animals and a wide variety of games.

The play area saw its capacity fill within the first half hour of opening, with parents being encouraged to come back for its second time slot of the day.

Kids were given an opportunity to explore the toys and activities the play zone has to offer.

Heather Jensen, Recreation Specialist III at the Carlson Center and Pioneer Park, said, “We have the tunnels, we have the kid carts. Kids are going round and round with the kid carts, which is awesome. We have some mats for tumbling, and that’s really for the younger kids if they just want to crawl. We have the foam building blocks, and, really, everyone’s just using it with their own imagination, so it’s going really well.”
