FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - This V.I.P is a lovable pooch who loves to run almost as much as she loves people.
Here’s what Britley Calkins, an animal handler with Fairbanks North Star Borough Animal Shelter, had to say:
“Chacha has been with us for three months. She is a super sweet, super active Alaskan Husky looking for her new forever home.
She’s about six years old and when she came to the shelter, she was a little bit on the skinny side. She was surrendered because she was not getting along with the other dogs in the home. She originally came from a mushing background and got placed in a family home and still wasn’t getting along with those pets. Because of that we are requiring that Chacha goes to a home without any other dogs.
She is a very active girl though, and is looking for an owner that is going to live that active lifestyle with her, maybe teach her the art of skijoring, to keep her both physically and mentally stimulated. Chacha is used to living outdoors and is most comfortable outside. She has spent time indoors but is most likely not completely housebroken. So that is something that her new owners should be aware of, that they might need to work on her with if planning to keep her indoors.
We do not know how Chacha does with smaller animals, however Alaskan Huskies tend to have a higher prey drive. So, if you have those smaller critters around, please be extra cautious with Chacha.
Chacha is very food motivated, she is very people motivated, and really, we have all fallen in love with her here at the shelter. We’re hoping that she finds her new forever home, and if you think that could be with you, please give the shelter a call. We also have lots of other dogs, cats, and pocket pets looking for their forever homes.”
