UAF Hockey Searches for New Goal Song
Nanook fans hold the power to choose next song
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The University of Alaska Fairbanks is reaching out to the public for their input regarding a new goal song to be heard throughout the Carlson Center when the Blue and Gold score.
The song previously used to be Gary Glitter’s “Rock and Roll Part II.” The popular sports tune is disappearing from arenas and stadiums across many leagues such as the MLB, NBA, and NHL. This stems from Glitter’s criminal past, and UAF is following suit moving from this song to something new.
There are currently four songs in contention to be the next goal song of the Nanooks: “Live in the Moment” - Portugal. The Man, “Song 2″ - Blur, “Bro Hymn” - Pennywise, and “Fuel” - Metallica.
There are three different ways that the public can cast their vote for the song they want to hear following a Nooks goal. Links to vote can be found on Twitter, Facebook, and a UAF created Google Doc.
The voting period ends this Friday, November 11th, and the current plan to reveal the new goal song will be in UAF’s upcoming home series against the University of Nebraska Omaha Mavericks on the 19th and 20th of November.
