FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) -Juliette Benson of the West Valley Wolfpack has signed her national letter of intent to Colorado Mesa University.

Benson is a swimmer who has swam for West Valley High School and the Stingray swim team. Juliette expressed excitement to go off to school in Colorado being able to take advantage of the many outdoor recreational activities provided near campus. She said another thing that she looks forward to is getting to know her new team.

The coach for the Stingrays, Josh Gregory spoke on Benson being a hard worker and how she has inspired younger stingray swimmers to strive for more and push themselves harder. Benson reciprocated her coach’s comments about being a stingray saying that she, “learned to push my teammates and let the m push me too.” This allowed the whole team to progress as a unit which benefited everyone, rather than each swimmer focus on themselves. Benson also suggested that this was the experience for her while part of the wolfpack.

When asked what advice she had for younger swimmers Benson, “If you really love it then push yourself as hard as you can because you never know how far you can go in this sport.” She then emphasized that putting in hard work is what takes you further in athletic progression.

Benson although undeclared, is looking at studying kinesiology which is the study of movement in the human body.

We congratulate Benson on her accomplishment and look forward to seeing her excel at the next level.
