FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Polar Girl is a loving pup who loves to run almost as much as she loves to snuggle.

Here’s what Britley Calkins, an animal handler with Fairbanks North Star Borough Animal Shelter, had to say:

“Polar Girl is a 2-year-old Alaskan Husky who was surrendered to the shelter with her sister Nulchin. Both these girls are harness-trained. They previously ran on a sled dog team and are very active dogs.

Polar Girl has done excellent at keeping her kennel clean while here at the shelter. However, previously she was known to spend most other time outdoors. Polar Girl, if you’re not familiar with Alaskan Huskies, is super energetic. She is looking for an outlet, looking to be either on a sled dog team or go to an active home that will take her skijoring or running just to keep her body moving.

Polar Girl has a healthy appetite, she’s been super friendly with her animal tenders and her doggy neighbors. We do not know how she does with smaller critters. Alaskan Huskies do tend to have an extremely high prey drive,s o if you do have those smaller animals at home, she may not be the right fit for you.

If you are interested in Miss Polar Girl, please give the shelter a call. We have plenty of other dogs, kitties, and pocket pets available for adoption here at the shelter.”
