FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Tanana Chiefs Conference (TCC) held a vote this week to recall former Chief/Chairman PJ Simon from his position.

The TCC full board of directors met at the Westmark hotel on Wednesday, during which they held a vote to recall Simon.

The motion passed with 22 of the 33 votes cast in favor of Simon’s removal. According to TCC, Chief Financial Officer Brian Ridley will serve as Acting Chief/Chairman until March of 2022, when Tribes will elect a new Chief/Chairman at their annual meeting.

Tribal members held a rally in Fairbanks in October, questioning the internal operations of the organization.

Later, a second special full board meeting was held in November. That agenda contained an unspecified employee grievance, among other items.

Simon had been President of the organization since October 2020.
