Ice Dog Camden Shasby commits to D1 program
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Ice Dog defenseman Camden Shasby, has committed to the Western Michigan University.
Shasby was born and raised in Anchorage and started his junior hockey career at 16 years of age with the Kenai River Brown Bears. In 2021 Shasby got a position playing as a part of the Fairbanks Ice Dogs. Since joining Fairbanks, he has scored 4 goals and put up 16 assists. ! of those goals was a short handed goal and two were game winning goals. Although he only has 36 games behind him so far, 33 with the Ice Dogs, he looks forward to his move to the next level.
Shasby chose to play for Western Michigan’s division one hockey program for a multitude of reasons; as he put it though, it was simply a “great opportunity.” Western Michigan is part of the NCHC which means Shasby will be playing against of the best teams in the country.
While we are both impressed by and happy for the young 18 year old, we will miss having him as part of the Fairbanks Ice Dogs and look forward to seeing how he performs at the collegiate level.
