Golden Valley Electric Association holds Board of Directors meeting
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Golden Valley Electric Association (GVEA) held a meeting of its Board of Directors on Tuesday, January 25.
During the meeting, the board heard a presentation about the company’s response to the winter storms that hit Fairbanks in December.
The address highlighted GVEA’s response to the situation, and discussed things the company learned from the event.
GVEA then gave a presentation on utility bills, noting that some customers had noticed a spike in their bill between the months of October and November.
This presentation included what factors go into an electric bill and tips on how customers can lower their monthly costs. These include putting timers on car plug-ins and tracking electricity usage online.
Co-Presenter Meadow Bailey, Director of External Affairs and Public Relations explained, “You can actually look and track what your daily usage is. You can look down to fifteen-minute increments. You can look at monthly usage and track those patterns. You can compare month-to-month and year-to-year. You can analyze what your usage looks like and become a more informed consumer.”
Those with questions or concerns about their GVEA bill are encouraged to call 907-452-1151 or visit their website.
