Pet of the Week: Chucky Cheese the playful Alaskan Husky
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - This fluffball may not come with a ball pit or pizza, but Chucky Cheese is a sweet boy who could put some fun back in your life!
Here’s what Britley Calkins, an animal handler with Fairbanks North Star Borough Animal Shelter, had to say:
“Chucky Cheese is a six-year-old Alaskan Husky who was surrendered to the shelter with a couple dog friends because their elderly owner wasn’t able to continue care for these guys.
Chucky Cheese, even though he came in with a group of dogs, he definitely has a dominant personality and can be dog selective. So just please be cautious if you are choosing to introduce him to other dogs. We do not necessarily know how Chucky Cheese does with other animals such as cats, pocket pets, or livestock. Since he is an Alaskan Husky, they do tend to have a higher prey drive. So if you do have those smaller critters around, just again, please be extremely cautious. He may do best in a home without them.
Chucky Cheese is not completely housebroken. He does OK at keeping his kennel clean here at the shelter, but he does have a history of liking to mark on things. So this is something his new owners are going to have to continue to work on with him as well.
Chucky Cheese has been extremely sweet towards his animal tenders here at the shelter. He hasn’t really been exposed to children, so if you do have kiddos, just make sure that introductions are done appropriately.
Chucky Cheese is hoping to find a very active home, somewhere where they can keep him both mentally and physically stimulated. He would love to go on plenty of adventures. If you are interested in meeting this boy or any of our other dogs, cats, pocket pets, or livestock here at the shelter, please give us a call!”
