Pet of the Week: Whitney the happy Alaskan Husky Boxer mix
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Here’s a pup that’s looking for a loving home to go on many adventures with.
Here’s what Britley Calkins, an animal handler with Fairbanks North Star Borough Animal Shelter, had to say:
“Whitney is a year and one-month-old and he is an Alaskan Husky Boxer Mix who was surrendered to the shelter because his prior owners were moving overseas, and they were unable to take him with.
Whitney is used to living indoors and he’s pretty good about keeping his kennel clean, but he does have a few accidents every now and then. So this is something his new owners may need to work with him.
We do not know how Whitney does with other animals such as dogs, cats, pocket pets, or livestock. He has been friendly towards his doggy neighbors here at the shelter, but please remember all introductions should be done in a slow, safe, and controlled environment.
We also do not necessarily know Whitney does with small children. He has been extremely friendly with his animal tenders; but again, just making sure that introductions are done properly will be key.
Whitney is a super friendly, happy boy. He is harnessed trained and might enjoy learning how to go skijoring. He’s an active dog that’s looking for an active family. If he sounds like the boy for you, please give the shelter a call. We have plenty of other dogs, cats, and pocket pets available for adoption here at the shelter.”
