Fairbanks hosts 2022 USA Hockey Pacific District Girl’s Hockey Championship Tournament
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Hockey Club Fairbanks is hosting the 2022 Pacific District girl’s hockey championship tournament. The four day event started today, March 3, and runs through Sunday, March 5. Twenty-eight teams from Alaska, California, Oregon, and Washington will be competing. These twenty-five teams span over two different tiers (I and II) and three age groups: 14U, 16U, and 19U. Eleven of the twenty-five teams hail from Alaska.
450 different athletes will by vying for the chance to represent the Pacific District at their respective divisions. Three different interior Alaska arenas will be utilized. Teams will play at the Big Dipper Ice Arena and the University of Alaska Fairbanks Patty Ice Arena in Fairbanks along with the Polar Ice Arena in North Pole. All fifty-seven games on the schedule will be free to attend.
The championships for 14U, 16U, and 19U will take place March 6. The Tier I champions will be heading to nationals in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania March 31-April 4. Tier II will go to West Chester, Pennsylvania March 31-April 4.
