Very Important Pet: Cricket, the brave little bunny
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Here is a little bunny who loves to hop around and explore!
Cricket is a cute little critter who is looking for a new loving forever home.
Here’s what Britley Calkins, an animal handler with Fairbanks North Star Borough Animal Shelter, had to say:
“Cricket is a 6-month-old Holland Lop bunny, who is now available for adoption.
Cricket did come in with two sisters who’ve been adopted, so he is now looking for that new forever home. Cricket does have a longer hair coat. So, what that means for bunny owners is that he will require a little bit of grooming, and they should also use pelleted litter in his litter box, so it doesn’t stick to his fur.
If you are not familiar with bunnies, as far as diet goes, they should always have timothy hay available for their teeth and GI health, a measured amount of pellet food as well as fresh greens, and he drinks wonderfully out of a water bottle that hangs on the side of his cage.
Cricket has done great at using his litter box here at the shelter. Bunnies can be litter box trained and he has, like I said, done awesome.
Cricket would like a large area where he can hop around and stretch his legs. If you plan to let him free roam in your home, please make sure to bunny-proof at first because bunnies do like to chew on things. There’s plenty of different enrichment that you can buy, or you can make your own and this can be a fun, easy project.
If you are interested in meeting Mr. Cricket or any of our other bunnies, dogs, cats, or chickens here at the shelter please give us a call!”
