Pet of the Week: Rafael the speedy Alaskan Husky
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Rafael is a speedy pup that loves to go go go! And now he’s looking for a new loving home to call his own.
Here’s what Britley Calkins, an animal handler with Fairbanks North Star Borough Animal Shelter, had to say:
“Rafael is about a year and a half old, and he is an Alaskan Husky. Rafael initially came to the shelter back in October but then went out to foster to kind of learn some more information about him.
Rafael was tried out on a sled dog team and seemed to really enjoy it. His foster said that he was a little nervous at first but once they got going, he really does love to run. Rafael is used to living outdoors; he is accustomed to being outside in a doghouse. If you were interested in transitioning him inside, just please keep that in mind that he will need help with potty training basic commands.
He is very comfortable living outdoors and he’s a very energetic boy. He is a dog that is going to require a lot of exercise on a daily basis to keep him happy and out of trouble.
Rafael was also said to do wonderfully with other dogs, including house dogs in the foster home. He is an energetic boy, looking for his new forever home somewhere where he can be both mentally and physically stimulated.
If you are interested in meeting this happy boy, please give the shelter a call. We have plenty of other dogs, cats, and pocket pets available for adoption here at the shelter.”
