Very Important Pet: Champ the fluffy bunny
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Here’s a fluffy friend who’d love to hop into your lives. Champ is ready to take on the world and win herself a place in her new forever home.
Here’s what Britley Calkins, an animal handler with Fairbanks North Star Borough Animal Shelter, had to say:
“Champ is a 16-week-old bunny who came back to the shelter after spending some time in foster with her litter mates and now is looking for her new forever home.
If you’re not familiar with bunnies, they can make excellent pets. They can be litter box trained, which is great. They do like to have a large area where they can hop around and stretch their legs.
Bunnies do need access to timothy hay at all times for their teeth and GI health. They should have a measured amount of pellet food and fresh greens on a daily basis. This little lady drinks fantastically out of a water bottle that hangs on the edge of her enclosure and she would also love to have lots of enrichment. Enrichment is so much fun. You can buy things for her or you can even make them. There’s lots of do-it-yourself projects online.
Champ has been very friendly with her animal tenders here at the shelter. She can be a bit on the shy side initially and may need some help to continue to come out of her shell but she really has been a delight.
If you are interested in meeting Miss Champ or any of her sisters, or dogs or cats we have available here at the shelter, please give us a call.”
