FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Here’s a critter who is ready to storm into your life. Stormy is an adventurous little guinea pig who is looking for a loving home to call her own.
Here’s what Britley Calkins, an animal handler with Fairbanks North Star Borough Animal Shelter, had to say:
“Stormy is a 5 month old female guinea pig who was surrendered with her mom and sister and is now looking for her new forever home. If you are not familiar with guinea pigs, we do encourage you to do a little bit of research prior to adopting. They do like to have a buddy and making sure that is the same sex is important or you might end up with little baby guinea pigs.
Guinea pigs require access to timothy hay at all times for their teeth in GI health, they should have a measured amount of pellet food as well as fresh greens on a daily basis, and they need supplemented vitamin C. This can come in the form of slices of oranges, bell peppers, dark leafy greens, or you can buy commercial grade vitamin C supplements. Stormy drinks wonderfully out of a little water bottle that hangs on her enclosure.
She likes to have plenty of enrichment in her cage that she can chew on, and she likes to get out every now and then so she can explore.
If you are interested in adopting Miss Stormy and possibly a buddy for her as well, please give the shelter a call. We have lots of guinea pigs available for adoption right now as well as other pocket pets, dogs and cats.”
