FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Interior residents awoke Monday morning to unseasonable snow outside their windows.
The National Weather Service reported that snow fall measurements came in just under an inch early Monday.
With a cold front on the horizon, community members can expect more snow this week.
However Ryan Metzger, a local meteorologist with National Weather Service says the snowy forecast should calm down this week as temperatures begin to rise.
Metzger says this year’s snowfall has been rare, including what’s happened in May. “It’s not too common. In the 92 years we have on record we’ve had 21 Mays with an inch of snow, and only seven after May 7th.”
