FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Have you received a suspicious call about meter replacements recently? Well, the Golden Valley Electric Association is warning its members to be aware of scams.

In this particular scam, someone pretends to be a GVEA employee, and asks for payments to replace meters through a pre-paid gas card.

GVEA reminds the public that the association will never call and pressure you to make payments. In addition, the organization encourages residents to hang up if they are in doubt.

More information can be found on GVEA’s Facebook Page.
