FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) is welcoming summer by opening the campus for its annual arctic research open house.

The public is invited to explore the upper campus area near the Museum of the North to visit over a dozen UAF research groups. The goal is for guests to learn about research happening in the community. Each stop at the open house will explain ways that UAF research brings value to Fairbanks’ economy, community well-being, and local environment.

Michael Delue, science communicator with International Arctic Research Center explained, “The goal of this is just to help people understand science, to put names to faces. Sometimes these buildings can be a little intimidating, but the people inside of them are just your neighbors, they’re people that live next door, they’re people that you work with every day who are doing science because they love that science and because they want it to apply to our everyday lives. We wanna make sure that Fairbanksans are benefitting from the science that’s happening here at UAF.”

The event will take place on Thursday, May 19th, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m on the UAF campus.
