White Mountains National Recreation Area trails open Saturday, June 11
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - If you’re ready to check out the trails on your off-highway vehicles (OHVs) in the White Mountains National Recreation Area, you’re in luck.
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) says starting Saturday, June 11, 2022, Wickersham Creek, Trail Creek and Quartz Creek trails will be open. This area is near the Davidson Ditch Wayside at Mile 57 of the Steese Highway.
In a press release, Eastern Interior Field Office Manager Tim Hammond says the recent warm and windy weather has helped dry the saturated trails. The trails had been closed since May 10 due to the record amounts of snow received in the area.
When riding the trails, BLM reminds everyone to travel safely and responsibly and follow simple guidelines, including wearing a helmet, staying on the trail, and sharing the trail with others.
