FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - UPDATED. June 14, 2022.

The body of Kimberly Bridges, who has been missing since October 24, 2021, was found on May 22, 2022.

Her husband Robert Bridges has been arrested and charged with murder in the first degree.

According to Alaska State Troopers (AST), they felt the nature of the missing report by Kimberly’s husband was highly suspicious and called in the Alaska Bureau of Investigation to further investigate her disappearance.

The investigation continued for many months.

On May 22, 2022 a tour group visiting Alaska came across a body near the Yukon River Bridge off the Dalton Highway. AST sent the body to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Anchorage for an autopsy, which identified the remains to be Kimberly Bridges.

An affidavit said the human remains were wrapped in a mattress pad and bedding and tied together with a nylon rope. Investigators confirmed all materials belonged to Robert Bridges.

According to an assessment from the State Medical Examiner, Kimberly was shot at close range in the back of the head. The affidavit says the .45 caliber handgun that was found with Kimberly’s remains in the mattress pad and bedding matched the description of the gun Robert Bridges told investigators she had taken with her.

The State Medical Examiner’s report determined she was the victim of a homicide. AST wrote in their report, “Preliminary information for the State Medical Examiner determined that the death was a homicide, which was consistent with evidence that Troopers identified at the scene and had uncovered during their investigation.”

Robert Bridges was arrested on June 10, 2002 and taken to the Fairbanks Correctional Center. His bail is set at $1,000,000.
