Fairbanks North Star Borough offers Wildfire alerts for smartphones
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - To help residents stay updated on the fire situation in Alaska, the Fairbanks North Star Borough (FNSB) has developed a Wildfire Alert System.
This is the third year the program has operated in the borough.
Residents can sign up to receive alerts on their smartphones including evacuation orders, new fires and updates to existing events.
In order to get these alerts, residents can text FNSBWildFire2022 to the number 67283.
Meanwhile, the borough also monitors the air quality in the region day by day, and residents can check to see how PM2.5 numbers look in the borough by going to fnsb.gov/aq.
Updates on fires around Alaska Bureau of Land Management’s Alaska Fire Service Facebook page.
Meanwhile, Burn Alerts issued by the Division of Forestry can be found here.
