The National Weather Service issues Red Flag Warning for Middle Tanana Valley area

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The National Weather Service in Fairbanks has upgraded the Fire Watch from yesterday to a Red Flag Warning from noon, Friday, July 1, to midnight July 2 for lightning in the Middle Tanana Valley.

Thunderstorms will occur this afternoon and evening and again on Saturday. Lightning activity is a level 4 which heightens the risk of new fires developing.

Humidity is expected to be as low as 28%, with winds from the southwest at 5 miles per hour.

Temperatures are will range between 57° and 84°.
