Maxine Dibert runs for Alaska House District 31
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Maxine Dibert is running to represent District 31 in the Alaska House.
She said she is running because she is dedicated to Fairbanks, where she was born and raised. “I’ve also taught in this district, 31, for the past 20 plus years at Denali Elementary School and have taught many of the students that still live in this district, and so education is going to be one of my top priorities and why I decided to run.”
Dibert said children are our most precious gift in the community. “A big issue that i see now facing educators in our schools in the district are hiring good teachers and retaining good teachers. I have many colleagues who really don’t have an incentive to stay here, and I’ve seen many of my colleagues, after a couple of years, move to another state.”
She wants to fight for decent retirement benefits for teachers, police and firefighters. “I feel like I’m a candidate that has one of the closest voices to the people of my community, that I could bring to Juneau. I’m ready to listen to my constituents. I’m ready to listen to the people of Fairbanks.”
Dibert is running against Kelly Nash and Incumbent Bart LeBon in the primary election on August 16.
