Will Stapp runs for Alaska House District 32
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Will Stapp is running for District 32 in the Alaska House.
He said he is running because he believes in sophisticated and simple solutions to complex problems. “I think our community faces a lot of difficult challenges, especially right now with high inflationary pressure on consumption goods and high cost of gas. All that type of stuff hits Fairbanks really hard... because we are at the end of the supply chain, and when you’re at the end of the supply chain you already have a high cost in goods. So inflationary pressure hurts a lot.”
Stapp said Alaska’s recent high-revenue year may help to solve some of its budget issues short-term. “One of my fears when I look at the way folks have historically spent money in this state is people are going to maybe squander this opportunity we have in Alaska to really set ourselves up for success long-term with a sound fiscal plan and some quality capital project investment in our community.”
He said he’s been an insurance agent in the healthcare industry for 10 years. “We have some regulatory rules that contribute to our high cost of health care in the state and high cost of insurance, so it would be very ideal if we could work on some of those to address some of those challenges so we can make sure that Alaskans and people in our community have a lot more money in their pocket that they can spend on things they need.”
Stapp is running against Timothy Givens and Van Lawrence in the primary election on August 16.
