Spruce Tree Montessori School celebrates 10 year anniversary with expansion
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Nearly 10 years ago, Spruce Tree Montessori School opened its doors on March 8, 2012 and started with fewer than ten students. One decade later, the Fairbanks school celebrated their 10 year anniversary and an expansion of nearly 950 square feet to the current facility.
The school was able to increase classroom space, expand their library, and even add a faculty lounge, which provided an enhancement to student services.
Sabrina Binkley, the founder of the school commented on what it’s meant to reach this point saying, “We’ve really enjoyed the journey so to speak. We went from having seven students and one teacher in our first year to... now home to 95 students and 15 staff, which has been really incredible... just the lives we’ve been able to be a part of and the parents and students and educators we’ve connected with over the years. We moved into the historic Fairbanks Train Depot here in 2016 and then were able to add on as a part of that 10 year anniversary strategic plan so to speak. So, it’s been really exciting to expand that vision in the actual physical space.”
The expansion has allowed the school to add eight additional openings for students between third and fifth grades.
