FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Mindy O’Neall is running for reelection to seat C in the borough assembly.

She said running for reelection felt like the right thing to do after getting to know the borough better in her first term. “I think the last three years, my track record has proven that I’m dedicated to this community and that I understand the issues, that I’m approachable and I listen.”

O’Neall said she would like to help with the issue of housing in the borough. “I think it’s a huge issue nationwide, statewide, and certainly in our community as well. I hope that I’m able to influence more building in the borough that helps relieve our housing issues, not only just the number of houses that are available or units that are available for rent or to own, but also the quality of them.”

She sees the borough’s trails and parks plan as exemplifying what the borough can offer to visitors and residents. “I’d really like to see those trails and parks become more accessible, not only in wayfinding and signage, but also accessible for disabled individuals who can use those spaces. We live in such a wonderful place. It’s why we live here, and so everyone should be able to access them.”

O’Neall is running unopposed in the municipal elections on October 4.
