Fairbanks pilot dies in plane crash

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - At approximately 4 p.m. Wednesday, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a plane crash at the Chena Marina airstrip in West Fairbanks.

According to eye witness accounts, the plane flipped forward while taxiing at a slow speed.

75-year-old Jarald Stansel, the pilot, was the only occupant in the incident. He was extricated from the submerged plane and transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Stansel’s next of kin have been notified.

The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board have been informed about the incident.
