FNSB Central Recycling Facility to reopen November 1
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The Fairbanks North Star Borough’s Central Recycling Facility is opening back up to the public at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1, after four months of closure.
The facility was initially closed on July 1 when the contract with its operator ended, and the closure continued during negotiations with the new operator.
Starting November 1, Green Star of Interior Alaska will be the facility’s operating contractor.
Because members of the community may have held onto their recycling during the closure, the borough is advising people to expect extended wait times.
They also suggest waiting a few days while the initial surge of built-up recycling occurs.
The facility will be open Tuesday through Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
