FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Following the end of the high school swim season in Alaska, one West Valley Wolfpack senior has announced the next step in her swimming career. Samantha Bristor announced she will swim at the University of Nevada - Reno.

“I’m really thankful to be signing today,” said Bristor. “I feel like I’ve worked very hard for this, and I feel like it’s finally paying off. I’m thankful for all the people who have helped me get where I am today and the people in the future who will help me, especially the coaches and team at Nevada.”

The University of Nevada - Reno is a member of the Mountain West Conference, competing at the NCAA’s Division I level.

“The school is very nice. It has some programs I’m looking at, and the team and coaches made me feel very welcome and wanted,” added Bristor. “And I felt very comfortable with them.”

Rather than staying at home, and swimming for her hometown school, Bristor will head to The Silver State in college.

“At first, my dad was very adamant about me going to UAF, but my mom knew that I did not want to go there,” stated Bristor. “It was more about sending me to places and making sure I could thrive there… We kind of just came to the conclusion together.”

The Nevada Wolf Pack finished second at the Mountain West Conference Championship in the 2021-22 season. Bristor is currently undecided for her field of study.
