FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Desi Dutra, the multi-sport athlete for the North Pole Patriots, has announced the next step in her academic and athletic career. The senior announced she will attend Peninsula College in Port Angeles, Washington and play soccer for the Pirates.

“It’s just the sport that’s made me the happiest,” explained Dutra on choosing soccer. “It’s his fault,” as she pointed to her brother. “I started because of him., and it’s brought me the best memories.”

Dutra will embark on her first journey outside Alaska in Washington. She’s never lived outside her hometown of North Pole.

“I’ve lived here my whole life, and I love it here. I don’t like change, but I think Port Angeles will be a good place for me.”

The Pirates are members of the NWAC conference, and have been a women’s soccer powerhouse in the last decade, and have five conference championships to show for it.

Desi’s major is still to be determined, but she knows she wants her focus to be in a STEM field of study.
