Fairbanks North Star Borough seeking public comment for land sales
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The Fairbanks North Star Borough (FNSB) is planning to hold land sales for several areas around the borough, and is looking for public input on the process.
Plots of land off of College Road and near Birch Lake and Salcha are expected to be up for sale this year.
The borough is giving residents an opportunity to learn more and to comment on how they think the sale should be managed.
On Wednesday, January 11, the borough will hold an in-person open house event at the Pioneer Park Civic Center. There is also an online open house option, which opened on January 9 and will close on January 30.
Bryce Ward, FNSB Mayor said, “If folks have comments on any of those land sales, or if there are provisions that they think the borough should be putting into the land sale agreements, now is your time to provide that comment. After the public comment period closes, we’ll do an analysis of the comments we’ve received, and if there’s any changes to that sale process, we’ll make those, go to the assembly for approval, and the idea is to have this sale out sometime in the spring.”
More information about the land up for potential auction, as well as a link to submit public comment, can be found here.
