FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Interior residents will soon have the chance to learn more about the place where they live.

The Fairbanks North Star Borough (FNSB) is constantly gathering data about its economy, and is running a series of webinars starting in January to show people how to unlock that information.

Kicking off on January 25, four webinars will explore topics like demographic trends and the future of jobs in the interior.

Presenters include researchers and state officials.

This annual series, formerly in-person, went virtual in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Stephanie Pearson, FNSB Community Research Technician, explained the information provided “helps us to kind of look into the future a little bit by looking into the past to see what happened in our economy and our community, not just with numbers and money, but with different things - like you might be looking at the tourism industry and want to know what our numbers were. Well, you could also look at the UAF (University of Alaska Fairbanks) museum visitor numbers to find out stuff like that, so it gives you insight into what could happen.”
