FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - North Pole Patriots senior, Gabe Hollett, has announced he’ll continue his athletic and academic career at Valley City State University (VCSU). VCSU is located in Valley City, North Dakota.

“He pushes me on the field. He pushes me at home. So, I always have someone motivating me and telling me I should be getting stuff done,” said Hollett on his dad’s support throughout his career. “He’s probably the reason I’m doing this.”

Hollett played tight end and defensive line for the Patriots. At VCSU, he’ll focus on the defensive side of the ball only.

“What makes him so good at football is he sees plays really quickly,” stated his father, Mike who doubles as his coach. “He can call out what’s happening in front of him. It’s been cool to see that evolution in him, understanding the game at a different level.”

Usually when interior high school athletes leave to play sports in college, parents might be unfamiliar with the environment, city, and campus their child is going to, but for Gabe that’s not the case. Both his parents attended Valley City State University.

VCSU is an NAIA institution that competes in the North Star Athletic Association. Hollett plans on studying Business Administration.
