Winners drawn in the 4th Annual PFD Education Raffle

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The 4th Annual Permanent Fund Dividend Education Raffle took place today, Wednesday, Jan. 25, with a first place prize of just over $56,000.

This year, 8,740 people participated in the raffle. The total amount to be split between four people is $105,687.16.

The remaining balance will be divided. $437,000 is going to public education across the state. Just over $218,000 will go into the Education Endowment Fund for future education support, and $218,000 will go back into the education raffle fund.

Fourth place with 1 percent of the prize money went to Suzanne Taylor for a total of $7,455.81.

Third place with 2 percent of the prize money went to Charles Green for a total of $14,091.62.

Second place with 4 percent of the prize money went to John Erickson for a total of $28,183.24.

The First place winner with 8 percent of the prize money went to Hannah Palmiter for a prize total of $56,366.49.

So far the balance for next year’s raffle is up to $598,898.92.

Anyone 18 years old or older that files a PFD online application for themselves will be provided an option to choose to donate money from his or her PFD to public education. For every $100 you donate you “buy” 1 entry into the Education Raffle. Donations are made in $100 increments. If you donate $200 you “buy” 2 entries, and so forth. Each entry goes into a drawing to be drawn by the Revenue commissioner, or designee. The yearly drawing is usually drawn the last Wednesday of the first month of the New Year.
