Senator Lisa Murkowski announces Alaska project funding requests are now open
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Projects around the State of Alaska now have the opportunity for a potential boost in federal funding.
On Monday, February 13, Senator Lisa Murkowski announced her request page for appropriations from the federal budget is now open. Alaskans can request federal money for their projects for the fiscal year 2024.
The money directed to states in this way represents no more than one percent of discretionary spending, according to Murkowski, who is a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee.
Any proposals received go to the Senate Appropriations Subcommittees for consideration. “As we go through the annual appropriations process, know that I am going to continue to use my leadership to advocate for priority projects across Alaska. The FY 2024 appropriations process includes opportunities to fund local projects through congressionally-directed spending,” Murkowski said, adding, “Last year alone, we were able to bring nearly half a billion dollars in investments for over 130 projects all across Alaska.”
The deadline for appropriations requests is March 10. Requests can be filled out on Murkowski’s Senate website.
