Stewart Erhart reaches 1,000 point milestone
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The reigning Alaska Gatorade Boy’s Player of the Year, Stewart Erhart, reached an individual milestone against the Lathrop Malemutes.
Following his 28 point night against Thunder Mountain, the senior guard knew he would surpass 1,000 career points in his next game.
A shooting foul in the first quarter sent the Erhart to the free throw line, and with his first attempt, he hit 1,000 career points.
“It feels good,” said Erhart. “Just because I know how hard I worked and all the games I played, how much I sacrificed practicing everyday. It’s pretty exciting.”
The Wolfpack would continue to run through Lathrop. Erhart ended with the game-high, 22 points. Lathrop got 17 out of Luke Skinner, but West Valley dominated the Malemutes, winning 75-35.
Even though Erhart has celebrated this milestone, there are bigger things on his mind.... The Wolfpack finished fourth at state in 2021-22, and are still striving for a championship this season.
“It’s cool for individual goals and everything,” added Erhart. “Last year after we lost, I kind of focused more on my team and our team goals to make everyone better, everyone a winner on my team... not just myself.”
The Wolfpack will play 4A Mid-Alaska Conference foe, Monroe Catholic tomorrow at Lathrop High School. The boy’s tip off is at 6:00 p.m.
