FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Alaska has joined 21 other states in a lawsuit protesting the Food and Drug Administrations decision to make Mifepristone available via mail.
In a statement, the Department of Law said making the pill, used for abortions, available in this way displaces the laws in place in some states.
Abortion is currently legal in the state of Alaska.
According to the statement, “The federal government cannot intrude upon the States’ responsibility for protecting the health and welfare of their citizens.”
