FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Brian Ridley was chosen by the Tanana Chiefs Conference (TCC) Board of Directors to head the organization for the next three years.

In its fourth and final day, the TCC annual convention held elections for key positions in the organization.

A number of seats were up for a vote, from two spots on the TCC Executive Board, to a seat on the TCC Education Council.

To cap off the day, Ridley was elected to continue serving in the position of Chief and Chairman, which he has held since March 2022.

Ridley gave an emotional speech to the assembled group, saying, “I just want to thank all of you. It’s really humbling to be in this position.”

“I keep going back to what Rhonda had said, because you guys know me as your money guy,” said Ridley, who for 13 years served as TCC’s Chief Finance Officer. “You know, you talk about introverts and extroverts. I’m a super introvert, so if you didn’t see me milling around, it takes a lot for me to be able to do that. Again, it’s so humbling to serve you guys like this.”

Ridley served as Acting Chief and Chairman from December 2021 to March 2022, following TCC’s recall of P.J. Simon from the position after a series of firings and layoffs at the organization that were deemed inappropriate.

Ridley was chosen at last year’s conference to fill out the remainder of Simon’s term.

His ongoing term is scheduled to last until 2026.
