West Valley senior signs soccer NLI with North Idaho College
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - West Valley senior, Kara Michaelis, signed her letter of intent to play soccer at North Idaho College in the fall. The Cardinals are located in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
“Once I talked to the coach and kind of saw what their program was like, it looked like I could really fit in,” said Michaelis. “Then going to visit and meeting the girls made me feel a familiar feeling I feel with my team here now which was really important for me.”
The Cardinals compete in the Northwest Athletic Conference. Last season, the Cardinals finished 13-2-4 overall (10-1-3 NWAC). Additionally the team made the playoffs. Their season came to an end at the hands of Lower Columbia losing in penalty kicks.
“The fact that there was physical therapy there,” added Michaelis as another selling point, “Hopefully that’s what I’ll do. It was good. Everything checked all the boxes for me.”
She added that she ended up on phsyical therapy because she suffered a broken leg. Those that helped her reach recovery goals, and she wants to do the same for others when she enters the workforce.
As Michaelis enters a new city, state, and team, she said she’s most excited for soccer. For herself, she’s eager to compete for her spot on the team in the fall starting in the preseason and get better as a player.
Michaelis will play her senior season this spring for the Wolfpack. Then, she’ll head to Idaho in the fall. Congratulations to Kara for this accomplishment and good luck in your collegiate endeavors.
