Fatality structure fire in Fairbanks
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The Fairbanks Emergency Communication Center (FECC) received a call reporting a structure fire in the 300 block of Bonnifield Street that occurred around 11 a.m. Friday morning in downtown Fairbanks.
According to a press release, it was reported that a person might be trapped inside the burning building.
The Fairbanks Fire Department responded with the first fire truck arriving to the scene within four minutes of being dispatched. Upon arrival firefighters found the house fully engulfed in flames.
While firefighters fought the fire another team of firefighters searched the structure for occupants who might be trapped inside. A deceased male was found and removed from the house.
The fire was controlled in approximately 40 minutes according to Fairbanks Fire Chief Scott Raygor.
The name of the deceased victim is being withheld pending notification to the family.
At this time the cause of the fire and the death are under investigation.
