Active shooter hoax prompts police response at Monroe Catholic High School
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The City of Fairbanks has again fallen victim to a hoax concerning an active shooter in a local school.
This morning at 10:25 a.m., a caller reported an active shooter at Monroe Catholic High School to the Fairbanks Emergency Communications Center.
Officers from the Fairbanks Police Department (FPD), along with other law enforcement, responded and checked every room in the building. No evidence of a shooter was found and the 911 call was determined to be a hoax.
Investigation of the call is now in the hands of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
FPD Chief Ron Dupee said of the incident, “It’s unfortunate that students, parents, staff, and the whole community has to go through incidents like this. I’m once again proud of the response from our officers and many other local law enforcement agencies.”
In November 2022, a hoax call was received about an active shooter at Lathrop High School.
