AK Governor Dunleavy creates Task Force on Child Care
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Governor Mike Dunleavy established a Task Force on Child Care on Thursday, April 6, with the issuing of Administrative Order 346.
The task force, once assembled, is expected to develop a plan to make childcare in Alaska more available and affordable.
Consisting of 11 voting members, the group will make policy recommendations.
Its tasks will include finding ways to incentivize employers to sponsor child-care facilities, and fostering public-private partnerships. “The purpose of this task force is to give a little more structure to the different ideas, be able to socialize those ideas with the public and with businesses and with non-profits to be able to understand the different approaches better, so that in the coming years we can make, I think, a more studied approach to where funding should go,” Dunleavy said.
The body’s first report is due December 31, 2023.
