Lathrop continues its pathway to college
Sophie Hale signs NLI to Hardin-Simmons University
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The first Malemutes signing this spring, as Sophie Hale signs her national letter of intent to run track for Hardin-Simmons University in Texas this fall.
The Cowboys compete in the American Southwest Conference (ASC) in NCAA Division Three. The team had a solid year, even finishing second at the ASC conference championship meet.
We spoke with Hale about her thoughts about going to such a strong program.
“I’m ready, especially for this season. I’m ready to just pr and get myself ready for the college season, and I’m ready just to have a good community and like meet new people, have new friends, have a good Christian community around me too down there,” said Hale.
Another interesting fact and pro for Hale is that Hardin-Simmons is the school both of her parents went to and met at.
During her time at Hardin-Simmons University, she plans to obtain her Masters in Athletic training and is deciding to do her undergrad in either kinesiology or sports science. On the athletic side, she plans to compete in the 400 meter and 4 x 400 meter relay, while also trying to compete in the 200 meter race and high jump.
